Well, yesterday marked my first day back to work after ten days straight of vacation. (All I did by the way was train, read, watch HGTV, send out fundraising letters, and sleep in. Maybe I went to a few movies.) Hello, cold, brutal reality. Goodbye, life the way it was meant to be lived.
Had a challenging conditioning workout this evening — we were training to sense our effort levels, so we alternated running at high effort versus medium effort. By the end, it was all high effort! Nonetheless, I always feel like a champ when we’re huddled outside Central Park, stretching out, sweat dripping down my nose (I didn’t say I felt sexy).
This weekend our coach would like us beginners to run six miles as our long easy run. I know I can do it, I just have no idea how long it will take me. Check back on Sunday to find out!
Tomorrow I leave for a business trip to Orlando. I’m staying at this hotel that is built around a massive inner courtyard, filled with bars, restaurants, plants, pathways and a spa/gym. The weirdest part is the whole thing is enclosed in a glass dome, as if I were a tortoise in a terrarium, or Jim Carey in The Truman Show. I hope I can find somewhere to run those six miles! Maybe if I went outside the terrarium, and tried circling it…?
