On Monday I had an indulgent, hotel breakfast with a new friend, who was in town from Atlanta. This cool, intelligent woman writes poetry, and children’s books… Other friends from Atlanta had a “car smashing” party, where people pay to swing a sledgehammer at a junker. It sounds like an excellent stress reliever to me. I’d give a giant roar and grunt with every swing, and wear a buffalo paid shirt and a bandana around my head, for effect… Today is a day off from running, and also my third of four Fridays off in a row. So I went shopping (of course), and spent an awful lot of money here… I also went uptown to Urban Athletics and bought a pair of racing
flats, my reward for my new PR. Can’t wait to use them during speedwork on Wednesday…. Dean Karnazes has a new book out, about the 50 marathons he ran in 50 days last year, and there’s also an accompanying documentary film in theaters now, apparently. How did I miss this so completely?… Thanks EN for forwarding this awesome Onion article about Michael Phelps. I’m glad I’m not the only one horrified by the fast food he stuffed in his face after he won #8.

The car smashing party sounds like so much fun!!!
I like the kicks. They look like Adidas AdiZero LT’s. If so, great choice. I got a pair about a month ago and wow, they feel fast. So fast, in fact, one might be tempted to call them ‘Zippy’.
Hey thanks! If only they weren’t trimmed in pink…
They are the AdiZero Mana’s. I think maybe not quite as light as yours?
And by the way, I laughed out loud when I heard your podcast comments about Phelps’ baring his chest at every opportunity. Hilarious.
hey a body built by Pizza! Gotta love it.
Maybe if I eat MORE pizza i can look like him?!
