I didn’t quite ever tell you all (somethings are private, after all), but my real, deep-in-my heart goal for this marathon was to break 3:55. I could have talked myself into being happy with anything under 4:00, but I burned for sub-3:55.
And friends, lovers, and mortal enemies, I DID IT! 3:54:41.

Race report, with images, to come as soon as I figure out what this purple bump is on my ankle.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! That’s a really awesome time 🙂
Thank you!! I am very happy!!
That’s awesome! Congrats! I’m looking forward to reading your report about the race.
Hey. Great job. I was checking your status along the way and tried to send you good vibes on my run. I assume your legs held up rather well.
To break your super secret goal is icing on the cake.
yay for you
Ciao Bella…what a great achievement – you are fantastic! I look forward to full race report and pics!
Girl, you rock so hard I felt it all the way out here in Michigan. When I was out on my run this morning I thought, TK is doing the same thing right now. Pounding the pavement in search of glory. OK, I only ran 11 miles. You did so much more. Congratulations on cracking the 4:00 barrier and meeting your goal!!!! Love ya!
Yay! I commented a few posts back — to wit, saw you today around mile 22 in Harlem and you looked fantastic: strong, steady and completely in control of yourself. It looked like you were having a good race today. Which apparently you were.
Congrats on achieving your goal! You do realize, of course, that this means you need a new goal. 🙂
Wow, all that tough work really paid off. Under 3:55, sub 9 min. pace, negative splits, and chopping over 42 min. off your old PR. Really an awesome performance out there today, you should be proud!
You sure proved something to yourself. Fantastic job. With that kind of time you should be able to set new PRs at all the shorter distances.
Thank you everyone — wow these comments poured in quickly!! And I know I caught all your good running vibes, for sure.
Leftcoaster, THANK YOU for pointing out by how much I crushed my old “PR.”
Yes, new goals will be formulated with the new year. For now, I’m giving myself a month of easy-peasy running, reaquainting myself with Husband, friends & family, and building a strategy for London in April.
David, funny you should mention “all the shorter distances,” as I have been tossing around the idea of setting new PRs in the 5k and 10k next, in fact…!
NICELY DONE 🙂 Congratulations!!!!
my sister rules the world! she even has her own sinister, ass kicking laugh, “muhahahahahah…giggle, squeek!”
What a pleasure for me to be there to experience the thrill of your milestone with you. It’s wonderful. Congratulations.
I have never laughed like that in my life. Brother, next year, it’s you & me on this course. Mother, you are an excellent spectator, you were great out there yesterday.
Fan-tas-tic! Way to go…
The TK sooooo rocked it! I guess that flash of curly hair blazing by Mile 25 was you after all. 🙂 Super proud of you and looking forward to reading the race report.
PS: I have some special guest blogging material regarding Kara and Paula sightings…….
Congrats on the finish, the time and the goal! Good work. Inspiring me to run another, next year.
Thanks guys! Am happy to provide inspiration whenever necessary.
I haven’t read any of the race coverage (of the elites) because i want to watch it online on demand tonight, and enjoy it as if it’s new, get caught up in the drama. Truly truly, I am still lamenting that I didn’t get to see my ladies & men run by at Mile 14. Participating really is just fractionally better than spectating for me.
TK, you are AWESOME!!! You looked so great when we saw you. Totally a ‘real’ runner that barely puts in effort! Congrats on the PR crushing time…I may have to enlist you for help when I start running again. I feel like I have to catch up to all these speedy peeps! I hope you revel in this victory for quite some time!!
Crafty PS, I LOVED seeing you out there, it totally made my Mile 22!! Your hair looked great (yes, I noticed)!
TK- You have come a long way… C.O.N.G.R.A.T.S. on a huge PR… well deserved.
TK,
I had so much fun this weekend and I have you to thank for it. Before we started I predicted that you’d dust me in the later miles and sure enough, you proved me right. If I could change any one thing, I would have done more speedwork in the prior months so that we could have finished together.
Congratulations on a job well done and I hope your take a well-deserved break.
Awesome race, awesome splits-running a negative split in NYC is very difficult but you really pulled it off!! Congrats-hope you’re still celebrating now!! 🙂
Thanks nyflygirl! A negative split is my favorite way to race. That hill on Fifth Avenue nearly knocked me off my plan, but I refused to relent that late in the game.
wow, awesome race and awesome time!
I hope to run as fast as you some day – you are a hero 🙂
